A Specialty Boarding School for Teens

Family Involvement

Family involvement is an integral part of the student's emotional growth process and functions as an opportunity for parents and students to resolve old conflicts, recurring problems, and misunderstandings with the mediation of MBA mentors. MBA staff members facilitate regional family support groups and full day workshops and we offer father/son and mother/daughter trips.

Parent Workshops

Parents are required to complete courses from the Family IQ website at each phase of the program and to attend a series of four parent seminars. The seminars allow parents and extended family members opportunities to:

  • Learn more about the MBA program through experiential exercises
  • Form a support network with other MBA families
  • Participate in individual parent/child/mentor meetings
  • Visit students both on and off campus

Phone/Mail

Students and families are assisted in the process of reconnecting and resolving conflicts using clear communication via:

  • Regular student/parent phone calls
  • Facilitated conference calls with student/parents/mentor to deal with specific issues as they arise in addition to regular update phone calls
  • Letters—MBA emphasizes the value of written communication and encourages students and families to write often.

Alumni Services

Alumni families in Phase IV participate in a supervised online support network.
