Location

Mount Bachelor Academy is located in the beautiful Ochoco Mountains of Central Oregon and is surrounded on three sides by National Forest.

Size

MBA has a maximum capacity of 113 students.

Age and Gender

MBA is a co-educational school for students ages 14-17½ at admission.

Length of Stay

The program is based on a 14-16 month model. However, length of stay is determined by students' individual needs. Students may choose to extend their stay, while continuing academics, for as much as an extra six months in order to smoothly transition to their next placement.

Appropriate Candidates

Adolescents with a history of emotional and behavioral problems, low self-esteem, defiance, underachievement, possible substance abuse, and family conflicts are appropriate candidates for Mount Bachelor Academy. Diagnostic categories include mild Depressive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Substance Abuse, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff at Mount Bachelor Academy consist of credentialed and master's degreed secondary level teachers, two full time learning needs specialists, bachelor's and master's degreed mentors, licensed clinical oversight available full time on campus, wilderness first responder or EMT credentialed wilderness instructors, two full time licensed nurses, two full time Chemical Dependency and Alcohol Counseling certified staff members, and consulting medication management oversight.

Staff members receive training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention, Suicide Prevention and Intervention, Wilderness First Responder, CPR and First Aid among other specializations. Teachers also receive special in-service trainings on brain based learning, ADD & ADHD, learning styles, among other specialized modes of teaching. Mount Bachelor Academy staff members are certified in Adoption Clinical Training through the Kinship Center which qualifies them in the areas of grief and loss and maladaptive attachment issues.

Academic Curriculum

MBA offers a rigorous, year-round academic curriculum. Classes are small, 12 or less students per class, in order to provide each student with individual teacher attention. MBA is an accredited member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools and the NAAS (Northwest Association of Accredited Schools). MBA has "non-public school" status with the State Department of Education in Oregon and New Jersey. We accept publicly funded adopted students.

Licensure

Mount Bachelor Academy is licensed by Oregon State Department of Health and Human Services and is in full compliance with Oregon State Health Department requirements.

Cost

Tuition for Mount Bachelor Academy is $6200* per month. There is a $2200* enrollment fee as well. (*Tuition rates and fees are subject to change at any time without notice.)
